Q: What are some inexpensive home improvement options available to aide in the selling process?

A: There are quite a few answers to this question; here are my top two responses.

  1. A coat of paint will give you the most “bang” for your buck.  This is one of the best improvements that anyone can do themselves.  A coat of paint will give your home a crisp-clean appearance, which every Buyer will appreciate.  As far as choosing a color here are some tips; Nothing too bold, accent walls are ancient, faux is a NO, make sure that the paint finish (glossy or flat) is appropriate for the room and try to keep your color palette in a natural or light tones.  By all means stay away from boring beige!

  2. Look at your floors! Replacing old carpet or refinishing hardwood floors can go a long way when it comes time to sell.  Not only will replacing the flooring improve the appearance of your home, it could also boost the re-sale value.

The condition of your walls and floors will come under the most scrutiny, make sure they are at their best!
